PEI's official Acadian Day celebrations are in Rustico on Aug. 15.
ABRAM-VILLAGE –L’exposition Agricole et le Festival Acadien today announced new government funding for property upgrades and an off Island promotional campaign.
The funding, totaling $56,005, is being contributed by the federal Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency ($47,785) and the provincial Department of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Rural Development ($8,220).
This is a significant investment for a relatively small festival so the money will go a long way, said Eric Richard, president of the festival.
“Our festival has experienced great success in the last number of years,” said Richard.
“This funding has allowed us to make upgrades to our event grounds to accommodate the growing number of visitors we are experiencing.”
The money will be spent on upgrading the festival ground’s washroom facilities, entrance kiosk and stage, safety fence, horse ring and to do landscaping. A marketing campaign was also announced, however, few details were announced.
The Exposition Agricole et le Festival Acadien is a four-day event and agricultural exhibition celebrating Acadian culture which took place Aug. 29 to Sept. 1, 2013 in the Evangeline region. Some of this year’s activities included Le Festin Acadien Avec Homard, livestock judging, equestrian, petting farm, parade, and fiddling.
