CHARLOTTETOWN – Good news for Island hunters, Environment Canada is extending the waterfowl hunting season.
Hunters in possession of a Federal Migratory Bird Hunting Permit,
a valid Provincial Hunting Licence and an early September special permit may participate in the early season which runs Sept. 3-16.
Conditions of the early permit require hunters to indicate the locations they hunt, obtain permission from the landowner, and submit a log of all hunting activity by September 30, 2013.
Permits are available from the Forests, Fish and Wildlife Offices in Southampton, Charlottetown and Wellington.
The full hunting season reopens October 1 and is extended two weeks to Dec. 31 for all waterfowl.
A summary of the hunting regulations as well as specific season dates and bag limits is available at www.gov.pe.ca/forestry/summary.
