Police and transportation officials are cautioning the travelling public that beginning today, and continuing each Tuesday and/or Thursday until Oct. 1, motorists may encounter traffic restrictions along the route used to transport windmill equipment for the Hermanville wind project in Kings County.
Extended delays can be expected at Upton Road and the Trans Canada highway as well as the intersection at Grafton Street at the mouth of the Hillsborough Bridge in order to maneuver intersections and manage traffic.
From the Confederation Bridge at Borden the anticipated route is:
Highway 1 to Charlottetown
Charlottetown by-pass/Riverside Drive, across Hillsborough Bridge
Highway 1 to Cherry Valley
Route 3 to Poole's Corner
Route 4 to Dingwells Mills
Route 2 to Route 307
Route 307 to Route 16
Route 16 to Hermanville site
The arrival of the convoys in Charlottetown is anticipated to be early to mid afternoon, with a maximum speed is 40 mph.
