The 13th annual Friendship Run, organized by Dr. Michael Irvine (centre), is a fundraising event for the Prince County Hospital Foundation’s Equipment Fund. Irvine is joined by PCH Foundation staff member, Kelly Arsenault, (left) and new runner Marina Trainor, who is running the 10K for the first time this year and is a longtime volunteer with the foundation.
The run is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 31, starting at the Wilmot Community Centre in Summerside at 9 a.m. Registration is slated for 8 a.m., and no pre-registration is required.
The entry fee covers registration and the addition of new chip technology – a tracking technology that will allow for more accurate results and decrease potential human error.
The 10-kilometre route will take runners through a scenic loop in Summerside, including forested sections of the Rotary Friendship Park, and a part of the Confederation Trail.
There will be free T-shirts for the first 100 runners. New running shoes will be presented to the top male and female finishers. There will also be awards for various age groups, and there will be refreshments at the finish line.
