NORTH MILTON – A 60-year-old woman is dead following a vehicle-pedestrian accident in North Milton Friday morning around 6:30.
Queens District RCMP said a vehicle, travelling south on Route 7, struck and killed the woman who was crossing the highway in white-out conditions.
Police say the investigation is in its early stages, however, RCMP believe the female was crossing the highway to pick up a newspaper and neither she nor the driver of the vehicle saw one another due to the blowing snow. The female was pronounced dead at the scene.
Speed and alcohol were not a factor in this collision. The investigation is continuing and RCMP members remain at the scene.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin who are off-Island.
Island EMS was also at the scene.
