Western Hospital ER to be closed Friday night

ALBERTON — The emergency department at Western Hospital in Alberton will be closed overnight Friday from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. due to a temporary lack of physician coverage.

The department will re-open at 8 a.m. Saturday.

West Prince residents with urgent medical needs should call 9-1-1 or seek emergency services at the Prince County Hospital or the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

In non-urgent situations, all Islanders are encouraged to visit their family physician’s office or a walk-in clinic. Locations and hours are available at www.healthpei.ca/walkinclinics.

    Is anyone else tired of hearing about these hospitals closing their ER rooms? Time to give it up and close them down. Two big hospitals are more then enough for this tiny province. Anything serious at all gets sent right to sside or chtown anyways. So what's the point of having them other then that some community can claim they have a hospital
