A car crash early Wednesday morning claimed the life of a woman on Route 12 in Tyne Valley.

The crash happened at about 6:13 a.m.

East Prince RCMP sent out a press release this morning stating that the victim is a 49-year-old from Harper, P.E.I. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, the preliminary investigation revealed that the victim’s car, hydroplaned, left the road, struck a snow bank and rolled over.

The victim, who was the only person in the car, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the passenger side window. She passed away from her injuries at the scene.

Police are withholding the name of the victim until her next-of-kin can be notified.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The original RCMP release incorrectly stated that this crash happened Tuesday morning, whereas it actuality it occurred Wednesday morning.

Just saying... This news article makes it pretty easy to distinguish who the victim is, think of the family- everyone may not be aware of the loss yet and you are plastering this article all over the Internet
