City man arrested for assault

SUMMERSIDE — A 43-year-old Summerside man has been charged with assaulting his son following an incident Wednesday afternoon.

Around 3:30 p.m., Summerside Police Services received a call via 911 from a 13-year-old boy alleging he and his mother were being assaulted by his father.

Police responded, charged the man and released him on conditions to stay away from the boy and his mother.

The man is scheduled to appear in Summerside provincial court on March 28.

A 42-year-old Summerside man was charged Wednesday evening for driving while prohibited and driving with no vehicle registration and insurance.

His vehicle was impounded. He is schedule to appear in court at a later date.

At 9:30 Wednesday night, police received a report from a local trucking company of theft of gas recently from their trucks. Police are investigating.

Police have arrested and charged a 20-year-old city man with theft following an investigation into the theft of hockey gear.

During the first week of January, a Poplar Avenue resident reported that his son’s hockey gear, which was valued at $1,500, was stolen from his vehicle.

The hockey gear has since been recovered and returned to its owner.
