Shortly before midnight on Friday, East Prince RCMP officers responded to a complaint from the public of a possible impaired driver in Miscouche.

As a result of their investigation, a 44-year-old Birch Hill man was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

The man subsequently refused to comply with a demand to provide samples of his breath for analysis. He is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Summerside on April 18 to answer to charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and refusal of a breath demand.

At approximately 1:35 a.m. on Sunday, an East Prince RCMP officer stopped a vehicle in Miscouche.

As a result of the vehicle stop, a 49-year-old St. Nicholas man was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

He provided breath samples that were more than double the legal limit and is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Summerside on April 18 to face charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

Then, at 1:54 a.m. Sunday, West Prince RCMP officers responded to a single-vehicle collision in Tignish.

As a result of their investigation, a 29-year-old Summerside man was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

He was taken to the West Prince detachment where he provided two breath samples, which were more than three times the legal limit.

He is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Summerside on April 11 to answer to charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

RCMP continues to encourage the reporting of possible impaired drivers in order to aid in apprehension of individuals who elect to drink and drive.

Geez, two drunk drivers in Miscouche that police knew about! Not safe to be on the roads and it doesn't seem to matter the time as it could also be in the middle of the day! Drunk drivers just aren't getting the message I guess because the message (fines and suspensions) aren't deterrent enough!
