Police investigate assault with weapon

SUMMERSIDE — A 36-year-old city man is facing charges of assault and assault with a weapon following an incident Tuesday evening.

Summerside Police Services responded to a domestic dispute at a Maple Avenue residence and arrested the man.

He was scheduled to appear in court later today.

It is alleged that the victim is man’s common-law-partner and that the weapon was a large glass candle.

The alleged victim didn't require any medical attention. The investigation is continuing and no further information will be released.

    Hey Dev and who said ... this is no laughing matter as it was a man and a woman ... and there were children in the house! PEI ... bassackwards and turning a blind eye to domestic abuse. No small of laughing matter and yes this guy has a record of acting this way and he is a piece of "work" for lack of better words or ones that are acceptable to print.

    Quite a man (well not really a man). Beating a woman with his weapon of choice. A candle holder!

      Who said he beat a woman? It says common law partner.
