Hal Perry has been voted the new leader of the Opposition by the Tory caucus this morning.
This news comes on the heels of Olive Crane’s resignation from the position today, which she officially announced last evening at a meeting in Souris. Today is also her last day as PC party leader, which she announced last December.
The Progressive Conservative MLAs met this morning for their weekly caucus meeting and decided during this meeting to name Perry as Opposition leader.
But the caucus and the party executive still must choose an interim party leader. Perry and fellow caucus colleague Steven Myers as well as former PC candidate Linda Clements are all vying for the interim party leadership.
The vote for the interim leader is set to take place tomorrow evening.
More to come.
