Summerside Police Services were called in to investigate a break and enter in progress at the storage facility, located on Brookville Street, at 5:45 a.m.
When police arrived on scene, a half-ton truck was parked inside the building and there was a large quantity of cooper wire loaded in the rear of the suspect’s truck.
The 45-year-old man and a 17-year-old man fled the scene but were arrested by police a short time later.
The teen’s involvement is being investigated. He will be dealt with under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
VANDALISM INVESTIGATED
Police are also investigating an act of vandalism over the weekend.
A Bobcat excavator that was parked on the Gallant Street side of County Fair Mall had the windshield smashed out over the weekend.
Anyone with information or who may have seen anyone around the piece of equipment is asked to contact city police.
ALCOHOL-RELATED ARRESTS
A 33-year-old Summerside man was charged over the weekend with impaired driving. He was apprehended on Granville Street after police received a complaint from the public.
Also over the weekend, a 20-year-old man was given a seven-day driving prohibition after blowing over 50 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood.
MINOR INJURIES IN ACCIDENT
A 20-year-old city woman sustained minor injuries in a single-vehicle collision on Water Street Sunday morning.
The accident occurred on Water Street East near Gillespie Avenue around 11 a.m.
The vehicle left the road and hit a light pole.
The woman was charged with having no vehicle insurance.
