SUMMERSIDE – Attention science and nature people!
The Eptek Art & Culture Centre in Summerside is hosting a new traveling exhibit from the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa.
“Canada’s Waterscapes: Yours to Enjoy, Explore and Protect” is an interactive display consisting of several panels, games and movies, all revolving around the animals and plant life in Canada’s waterways.
David Keenlyside, executive director of Museum and Heritage Prince Edward Island, said Sunday that it’s been a long process to bring the exhibit to P.E.I.
So hopefully a lot of locals will take advantage of the opportunity, he said.
“The idea is to engage the viewer, have them learn and to enjoy the experience at the same time,” said Keenlyside.
Sunday was the launch event for the exhibition and about 20 people attended a small lecture and meet and greet at the centre.
“Canada’s Waterscapes” will be at Eptek Centre from Jan. 15 to April 28 and is available for viewing from Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sunday’s from noon until 4 p.m. The centre is closed on Saturdays and Mondays.
It’s a high quality exhibit, said Kasia Majewski, manager of external relations from the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
“It basically provides visitors an overview of the different ecosystems and the animals and creatures and how they relate,” said Majewski,
“With an overall focus on encouraging and helping Canadians learn how to preserve and protect their water resources,” she said.
