SUMMERSIDE – Summerside Police Services are investigating the theft of two Venture DVD players from a vehicle parked on Lefurgey Ave. overnight Thursday.

The items were taken from a 2007 Dodge Caravan. The vehicle was unlocked and didn't recieve any damage.

"We would like to remind the public that a car which has valuables within plain view is always a target for theft," stated Summerside Deputy Chief Sinclair Walker. "Don't leave any personal document, credit cards or cash in your vehicle. If you have to store valuable items in your car, make sure that you place them in the trunk or at the very least hide them from plain sight."

Walker warned that, "Thieves can be watching, so whenever possible, store your valuables before arriving at your destination."

Should anyone have any information on this crime or any other crime in the city they should contact Summerside Police Services or Crime Stoppers.

I couldn't imagine a "Venture" dvd player having much resale value. Actually, I can't imagine ANY dvd player's having much resale value these days.

I can't believe these types of things make the news, the owner left the car unlocked with valuables inside.. It's their own fault.. Meanwhile across PEI drunk drivers don't always even make the paper which is a completely more serious topic. Unreal..
