SUMMERSIDE — With the holidays comes longer waits, for some Islanders, for roadside waste and compost collection.

Topics :
Island Waste Management , New London , The East Prince Waste Management , Iceland , Prince , Wellington

Anyone who would have normally been on the collection schedule on Christmas Day, an alternative collection day is slated for Saturday.

Islanders whose scheduled collection day is next Tuesday, which is New Year’s Day, collection will take place on Saturday, Jan. 5.

Christmas trees must be curbside by 7 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 7, for collection by the Island Waste Management Corporation.

Drivers will be collecting tress that day but do have the week to complete all routes.

Trees may be taken to any of the waste watch drop-off centres across the Island free of charge. Those locations, which include Brockton and New London in Prince County — will be open regular hours, including on Dec. 31.

The East Prince Waste Management facility in Wellington is open regular hours, including on New Year’s Eve but will be closed Jan. 1.
