Pellet stove causes smoke damage in early-morning fire call

SUMMERSIDE — A backed up pellet stove caused minor smoke damage to a city home earlier this morning.

Summerside fire department was called to the home, located near the intersection of East Drive and the All Weather Highway, shortly after 8:20 a.m.

Two trucks with 16 firefighters responded to the call.

When firefighters arrived on scene, there was no fire but a great deal of smoke in the home.

The firefighters emptied the pellet stove.

Damage to the home was minimal.
