Red Point man dead after single-vehicle accident this morning

DINGWELLS MILLS — A 66-year-old Red Point man is dead following a single-vehicle rollover early this morning near Dingwells Mills.

The name of the driver is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The accident occurred at approximately 7:25 a.m.

Kings County RCMP, Souris Fire Department and Island EMS attended the scene of the accident, which occurred off of Highway 2, about 1.6 kilometres east of Highway 4 in Dingwells Mills.

The commercial vehicle was westbound at the time of the collision, left the roadway and rolled onto its roof in the ditch.

The driver and sole occupant of the truck was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The cause of the collision is unknown at this time and Souris RCMP, an RCMP Traffic Reconstructionist and the Workers Compensation Board of P.E.I. are continuing their investigation.

Alcohol and speed are not considered to be a factor at this time.
