Driver charged after three-vehicle collision on bridge

BORDEN-CARLETON – A motorist faces charges following a three-vehicle collision on the Confederation Bridge on Thursday.

The RCMP says the incident occurred just before 11 a.m. when the driver of an SUV rear-ended another vehicle, causing a chain-reaction collision. The SUV and the two other vehicles, a car and a transport truck, each sustained minor damage as a result.

All thee vehicles were occupied by adult male drivers travelling in the direction of New Brunswick.  

Police charged the man operating the third vehicle for driving without due care and attention.

    Now, if Summerside was in charge of this bridge the speed limit would be reduced to fourty km or if it was possible the PEI government would put in a round about. accidents happen folks, thats why they are called accidents.

    "Travelling in the direction of New Brunswick" ?? Travelling towards New Brunswick would make more sense wouldn't it ?

    So "driving without due care and attention" means talking on a cell phone or texting, which is it? The fine for talking on a cell phone while driving is $275.00, that fine should be posted on the sign prohitibing and maybe driver's will start taking it seriously enough if it hits them in the wallet! I see it everyday!

    so i see theyed charged a driver on the bridge for what theres no snow down on the ground 'waite on tell the bridge is covered with snow ;it is never clean it's like the roads here on pei and n.b. 'what this comes down to is the goverment needs money to try to fix what they lost in bad deals i never will i vote again for them 'this is how it works they dont care about us the tax payer at all why vote there all the same every where you go the feds are the same way no head on there shoulders good luck no goods....

    Likely TEXTING on the bridge. Due care and attention on the phone. Not likely an accident but most likely an incident. Hopefully one of the 22 cameras on the bridge saw exactly what happened!
