Western Hospital ER closed Saturday

The emergency department at Western Hospital in Alberton will be closed Saturday, Nov. 10, and operate on a limited schedule Friday, Nov. 16, due to a temporary lack of physician coverage.

The emergency department’s 24-hour closure on Nov. 10 will last from 8 a.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday.

On Nov. 16, the department will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

During these periods of closure, Island EMS will transport patients from the West Prince area, who require emergency medical care, directly to Prince County Hospital in Summerside.

In non-urgent situations, Islanders are encouraged to visit their

family physician’s office or a walk-in clinic. Locations and hours are

available at www.healthpei.ca/walkinclinics.
