The 5th annual book drive for literacy held over the weekend was a success.
There will be a blowout sale on Tuesday, Oct. 23, where readers can collect a bag full of books for just $5.
This final day for the sale runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the ShipYard, 370 Water St., in Summerside.
Thousands of books were donated to the sale by local residents, with proceeds raised over the weekend going toward The Journal Pioneer’s Newspapers in Education fund and Rotary’s literacy projects.
Tuesday’s blowout sale will offer some great bargains, since hardcover books were sold for $3 each and softcovers for $2 last weekend.
Although numbers from the weekend sale haven’t been tallied yet, last year’s book drive raised close to $10,000 for Prince County literacy programs.
