SUMMERSIDE – Islanders will have a unique opportunity this weekend to support literacy initiatives across Prince Edward Island while picking up some great reading at a great price.
This weekend, The Journal Pioneer and The Rotary Club of Summerside have partnered to hold the 5th annual book drive for literacy.
This huge book sale will take place Thursday, Oct. 18, and Friday, Oct. 19, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and will continue on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. -6 p.m. It will be held at the ShipYard, located at 370 Water St. in Summerside.
Last weekend, thousands of books were donated by local citizens for the cause. This is a great opportunity for Islanders to restock their shelves with “new to you” reading material.
Hardcover books will be sold for $3, soft cover books for $2 and children’s books for $1 and under. There will also be a selection of P.E.I. and collector’s books, specially priced.
All proceeds will go to The Journal Pioneer’s Newspapers in Education fund and The Rotary Club of Summerside’s literacy projects.
