CHARLOTTETOWN — The 70-year-old former manager of a Charlottetown homeless shelter has been found guilty of sexual assault.

Provincial court Judge Nancy Orr said today the testimony of Charles Everett Gallant wasn’t credible.

The trial heard that the former manager of Bedford MacDonald House had climbed into bed with one of the homeless shelter’s former residents, fondled him and tried to have sex with him.

Orr said she found the victim to be credible while there were inconsistencies in Gallant’s testimony.

Gallant will stay in custody until Feb. 29, when he is scheduled to appear for sentencing.
