Trinity Bradshaw’s convinced it’s the big break she’s been waiting for.
The 21-year-old Summerside native has a chance to showcase her talents as a performer before the nation on the upcoming show “Canada’s Got Talent.”
But first the singer/songwriter needs the support of her fans back home.
Bradshaw is among 20 online contestants vying for a coveted spot on the show.
The young woman, now living in Calgary, first auditioned in person at an open casting but there was no callback.
“I saw there were second chance auditions on YouTube,” said Bradshaw in a telephone interview. “I never expected anything from this either because there were thousands and thousands of entries.”
But her black and white video where she performs a beautiful and heartfelt rendition of Coldplay’s “Fix You” captured the attention of producers and was selected as one of the Top 20 videos.
The next step is for Bradshaw’s video to garner enough votes to put her in first place, guaranteeing her a spot in the Top 20 of the televised show.
Voting opened Monday and Bradshaw’s video has already received an overwhelming response.
“This is a video I already posted on YouTube for quite awhile. I only had 500 views on the video Sunday. It’s Wednesday now and I have almost 6,500 views,” she added. “My Facebook is just blowing up. So many people are just sharing my feeds and everything. I posted the link and I have six or seven people sharing the link with their friends and I’m getting tonnes of comments.”
Her Facebook group, “Trinity Bradshaw’s Last Chance Audition”, was created Tuesday and by mid afternoon Wednesday had more than 600 members.
Bradshaw also recently won the Post Food’s Sugar Crisp music grant contest “The First 15.” She received a $5,000 cash prize and last week went to Toronto to record her winning entry, “Just You and I.”
Bradshaw couldn’t divulge much more detail about the win, but did say her song would be used in a Post Food’s campaign.
She’s also using a $10,000 grant she received from a Calgary radio station to record her first album, which she expects to be released sometime this year.
She’s come a long way from her days of singing at the annual Lobster Carnival Sidewalk Sale and subsequent wins at the carnival’s talent contest.
When asked where she sees herself in two years, Bradshaw didn’t hesitate with her answer: “I think I will be international, worldwide. I can’t see anything else.”
The young singer/songwriter hopes Islanders will take time out to vote for her entry and help make her dream of being in the spotlight come true.
“They are my backbone,” she said of her fans, friends and family back home. “I never felt so good in my life, so motivated. It’s amazing. I moved out here before for two months before the summer and I couldn’t do it. I didn’t have enough motivation and strive. This time I’m going full throttle. Nothing’s holding me back.”
