“I have lived in Summerside for over 60 years and have seen a lot of growth in the city’s infrastructure,” said Chappell.
“I have worked on the committee to develop the East Prince Seniors Initiative which has an office in the Credit Union Place on the main floor,” he said. “This program was developed to help seniors become more active and healthy so they are able to work in the workforce longer and enjoy a healthy lifestyle.”
Chappell’s involvement with the city includes 22 years on the fire department and he remains as an auxiliary firefighter serving as treasurer. He also served as a member of SRDC for a number of years and was a member of the Unit 2 School Board for seven years serving as vice-chair for most of that term.
“My main concern as a councillor is to bring my constituents’ concerns to council to be discussed and solved,” he said.
“As far as the issue of concerts, I believe we have to utilize Credit Union Place as much as possible and bring in events which will help build up a fund to develop arts and culture,” he said. “You sometimes have to be aggressive to be progressive.”
“I am looking forward to meeting, once again, the voters in Ward 7 as I go door to door in my campaign.”
Chappell and his wife Gail have three married children and six grandchildren.
