Toyota Lexus plant in Cambridge, Ont., gets $17 million from Canadian auto fund

CAMBRIDGE, Ont. - Toyota's Canadian manufacturing arm will receive nearly $17 million in seed money from the Automotive Innovation Fund. Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Ontario's outgoing premier, Dalton McGuinty, were among the politicians on hand to make the announcement in Cambridge, Ont. The Japanese automaker is building a new assembly line in the city to increase production of Lexus luxury cars, including a new model with a hybrid gasoline-electric engine.

    So the government is subsidizing one of the biggest companies going with the Canadian peoples money, to make some luxury cars only rich people can afford. WTF is wrong with this picture?
