PEACE RIVER, Alta. - A fire at a small heavy oil facility in northern Alberta is out.

The fire erupted Monday afternoon at the Murphy Oil plant about 70 kilometres east of Peace River.

Murphy Oil spokesman Barry Jeffery says the flames damaged equipment that removes water from oil before the oil's ready to be sold.

The plant was shut in and some staff were evacuated.

No one was injured.

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
