Docherty Family will wrap up ceilidh season at Cymbria Lions Club

SOUTH RUSTICO – One of P.E.I.'s top musical families will be closing out the Cymbria Lions Club’s 2014 Ceilidhs on Sunday, Aug. 31, in South Rustico.

The Docherty Family band, which includes (from left) Doug MacEwen, Brian Knox, Kendall Docherty, Jason Docherty, and Timothy Docherty will be the guest performers for the final Cymbria Lions Club 2014 Ceilidhs in South Rustico this Sunday.

The Docherty Family, featuring brothers Kendall Docherty on lead vocals, Jason Docherty, vocals and bass guitar, Timothy, on lead guitar, and their father George Docherty on vocals, fiddle, guitar, harmonica have been performing across P.E.I. for over the past 24 years, but this will be their first appearance at the Cymbria Lions Hall.

Joining the Docherty family are longtime bandmates Doug MacEwen and P.E.I.’s own ‘Piano Man’ and who was an original member of the Tremtones and current member of the Grand Daddies of Rock N Roll. Also on stage will be Brian Knox on drums, who is no stranger to the Rustico area after performing for years at the Pig and Whistle shows as well as guest appearances with Dino Dunsford and Gary Chipmen.

This group performs a mixture of Maritime, country, gospel, old rock ‘n’ roll and can entertain just about any crowd with their wide musical repertoire and cheerful banter on stage.

Tickets are available at the door and there will be a canteen service and 50/50 draw with all proceeds going towards the services and charitable work the Cymbria Lions Club does throughout the communities along the North Shore of P.E.I. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. show time. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
