CHARLOTTETOWN — Spotlight P.E.I. is offering an exciting new addition to the lineup in an all-Island songwriters’ circle, to be held this Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Confederation Centre’s cabaret theatre, The Mack.

Meaghan Blanchard

This intimate concert will showcase P.E.I.’s youth movement of writers, including established favourites like Meaghan Blanchard and John MacPhee of Paper Lions, as well as rising stars Dylan Menzie and Emilee Sorrey, and rock band leaders appearing solo, Fraser McCallum (Racoon Bandit), Nathan Gill (North Lakes), Josh Carter (Coyote), and Richard MacLeod (Wildcat).

The first half of the night will feature four songs each from Gill, Sorrey, Menzie, and MacLeod, followed by a second song circle of Blanchard, MacPhee, McCallum, and Carter.

This all 20-something song circle will be hosted by Andrew King, editor of Canadian Music Magazine.

Spotlight P.E.I. concerts later this month include the award-winning roots-rock group, Dennis Ellsworth and Haunted Hearts; globe-trotting pop-rocker, Paper Lions; and songstress, Catherine MacLellan, launching her latest’s album, “The Raven’s Son.”

Tickets are available at the Confederation Centre box office at 902-566-1267, toll free at 1-800-565-0278, or online at charlottetownfestival.com.
