A recipient of the Order of Canada, he had his music taken into space aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour by astronaut Julie Payette. He has toured many parts of the world and over 30 artists have recorded his songs.

Gallant has just released his 10th album “Live Acoustic at the Carleton,” which contains 16 live tracks, a combination of brand new songs and familiar favourites. New songs include “Has Anybody Seen My Skates”, which premiered on “Hockey Day in Canada,” “God’s Reply”, “Amelia”, inspired by Amelia Earhart (co-written with Liam Titcomb) and “Abegweit”, which was written for his show “Searching for Abegweit: The Island Songs & Stories of Lennie Gallant,” that he is currently starring in at the Mack Theatre in Charlottetown, performing 45 shows this summer.

The album also includes fan favourites such as “Peter’s Dream,” “Mademoiselle,” “Laisse aller,” and rockin' versions of “47 Angels on Her Front Lawn," “Tales of the Phantom Ship” and “Tell Me a Ghost Story.” The album was recorded over two nights in the intimate atmosphere of the award winning songwriter music club – The Carleton in Halifax.

“I am very excited about this new album," says Gallant. "For years people have been asking me to make an album that represents the sound we get as a more acoustic set up, piano, fiddle, guitar and cajon. The sound is both intimate yet powerful and the shows we did at The Carleton definitely captured something special that was happening on stage.

“I have two uber talented nephews on stage with me, brothers Jeremy and Jonathan Gallant, and the amazing Anthony Rissesco on fiddle. We have a lot of fun when we play together, which I think we succeeded in capturing on this album.

“We also have a great blend of some of my better known songs and some brand new ones that we have been anxious to release. I have been waiting a long time to make this album and hope people will enjoy it as much as I do.”
