Buddy MacDonald, a fixture on the Cape Breton and Maritime music circuit for close to 35 years, will be performing two shows in P.E.I. this week.
MacDonald will be the special guest of Jon Matthews and Sheila FitzPatrick at their Brackley Beach Fiddle and Song show on Wednesday, July 9, at 7:30 p.m. at the Brackley Beach Community Centre. Cape Breton singer/songwriter and entertainer Buddy MacDonald will be performing at the Brackley Beach Fiddle and Song kitchen party show hosted by Jon Matthews and Sheila FitzPatrick on Wednesday, July 9, at the Brackley Beach Community Centre. MacDonald will also be the featured guest of Fiddlers’ Sons at the Close to the Ground concert series on Thursday, July 10, at the Kaylee Hall in Pooles Corner.

With a rich, musical upbringing in Cape Breton where traditional culture is strong and music is important, MacDonald has spent his career as a singer/songwriter and entertainer alongside the likes of John Allan Cameron, Natalie MacMaster, Ashley MacIsaac, Lennie Gallant, Tommy Makem and other renowned artists.

Being involved as host and entertainer at the Celtic Colours International Festival since it began has given him the opportunity to meet, perform and learn from some of the world’s greatest Celtic musicians.

His music has taken him across the globe. Not just a singer and guitar player, MacDonald engages the audience and relishes in the connections he makes at each performance. He enjoys performing his own material, but also feels at home doing old pub music and sing-along tunes with old Irish, Scottish, Canadian and American folk music.

Admission for both shows is by cash only at the door and all ages are welcome.

The Brackley Beach Fiddle and Song kitchen party shows are held every Wednesday at the Brackley Beach Community Centre at 3330 Brackley Point Road. Close to the Ground runs every Thursday at the Kaylee Hall in Pooles Corner. Both venues are air-conditioned with canteen service available, a 50/50 draw and CDs for sale each night.
