BRACKLEY BEACH – With a busy summer of music and entertainment planned for P.E.I. this year, a new kitchen-party-style show set for Brackley Beach promises some of the best Island music and fun to be had.
Brackley Beach Fiddle and Song, hosted by Jon Matthews and Sheila FitzPatrick, will run every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. from July 2 to Aug. 27 at the Brackley Beach Community Centre.
Suitable for the whole family, Matthews and FitzPatrick invite everyone to the North Shore where you'll hear the sounds of fiddle tunes wafting out of the hall on the fragrant summer breeze, dancers’ feet tapping out a tune close to the floor, and laughs and shouts of excitement from all those who are in the audience.
From fiddlers, to dancers, singers and pipers, you never know what kind of musical mayhem will break out. The parties will feature guests such as Meaghan Blanchard, Richard Wood, Emma Doucette, the PEI Uilleann Pipers Guild, Louise Chaisson MacKinnon and more.
Meaghan Blanchard will be the first guest kicking off this debut season this Wednesday, July 2.
Blanchard was one of the featured performers in the television special “The Songs of Gene MacLellan,” which has aired regionally and nationally on CBC in Canada. Her third album “She’s Gonna Fly”, was produced by John Keane at his studio in Athens, Georgia. Several major performance highlights for the Island singer/songwriter includes the Oylympic Games in Vancouver and for Prince William and Kate during their royal visit to Prince Edward Island.
Along with Blanchard, hosts Matthews and FitzPatrick will heat up the kitchen party with lively fiddle tunes and songs of the Maritimes.
Brackley Beach Fiddle and Song venue is the air-conditioned and wheelchair accessible Brackley Beach Community Centre, at 3330 Brackley Point Road, Route #15. There will be canteen services, a 50/50 draw and the artists’ CDs will be for sale each night. Admission is by cash only at the door with preschoolers admitted for free.
