"I am so excited to be hosting this year's 2014 Canada Day Celebrations on the 147th birthday of this amazing nation," says Moyse. "There's going to be incredible entertainment, and the fact that it will be taking place in my home province of P.E.I. makes it that much more special. I look forward to seeing everyone on Canada Day."

Moyse, as well as two-time Paralympic medalist and Island native, Mark Arendz, will be on hand for a meet and greet with concert-goers. DJ Hedspin has been added to the concert lineup and will keep the music flowing on the Main Stage throughout the day. Island artists Amy and Rachel Beck, Irish Mythen, The Count and the Cuban Cocktail, and Ten Strings and a Goat Skin will provide entertainment on a second stage - the Atlantic Lottery/Red Shores Island Stage.

The Six String Nation Guitar, created by Jowi Taylor, will also be on display. The Six String Nation Guitar was built using pieces of historical and cultural material from every part of Canada. Voyageur (the guitar's official nickname) has travelled well over 200,000 kilometres across the country appearing at festivals, conferences, concerts and schools. It's been played by hundreds of Canada's best musicians and been held by over 8,000 different Canadians.

Free access passes to the Concert for Canada will be available as of 12 noon May 30 online at www.pei2014.ca/canadaday. Free access passes can be picked up in person at P.E.I. Brewing Company at 96 Kensington Road or you can get assistance reserving access passes at your local library during regular operating hours. The public is encouraged to obtain a free access pass which guarantees access to the Charlottetown Event Grounds until 7 p.m. on July 1. A limited number of free access passes will also be available at the event gates on a first come, first-served basis until the venue reaches capacity.

Canada Day festivities will also be taking place at the Celebration Zone at Confederation Landing in Charlottetown with plenty of activities for all ages to enjoy. A joint ceremony to mark Canada Day and officially open the PEI 2014 Celebration Zone will take place at 11 a.m. at the Atlantic Lottery/Red Shores Mainstage. Children can learn, create and have fun at the Kids Pavilion where there will be face painting, balloon twisting, story time, a "Building a Nation" Lego station, air hockey and foosball, 1864-themed inflatables and other fun activities. The Canada Pavilion will feature interactive trivia games and challenges focused on Canadian and Island culture, a photo booth, a sports simulator, among other activities.

Children's entertainer The Music Man, Mike Pendergast, and other artists will provide upbeat entertainment. Canada Day activities at the PEI 2014 Celebration Zone do not require a free access pass.

Capping off the biggest birthday party for Canada ever hosted in Charlottetown will be the biggest fireworks display in the country. Fireworks will reach a height of over 1,000 feet and will be set off from two barges more than 1 km apart in Charlottetown harbour with viewing from the Charlottetown Event Grounds, Confederation Landing, and Victoria Park.

In 2014, Canadians will mark the 150th anniversary (sesquicentennial) of the historic 1864 Charlottetown Conference, which led the way to the creation of Canada. PEI 2014 Inc. is facilitating the planning, promotion and implementation of year-long sesquicentennial celebrations.
