Fred MacDonald turned 100 recently, the benefit perhaps of a life of farming and community support.

SUMMERSIDE - Fred MacDonald received a full house of 100th birthday well-wishers Sunday afternoon at the Parkview and Area Senior Citizen's Club on Central Street.

Fred MacDonald celebrated his 100th birthday recently, with daughter Janet Deighan, left, son John MacDonald, daughter Marilyn Gagnon, and the Parkview and Area Senior Citizen's Club filled to capacity with well-wishers.

"He was a farmer all his life in Sherbrooke, and was always involved in community activities," said his son, John MacDonald of St. Nicholas, of the reception offered to his father.
