ALBERTON – Just one week after the release of her “High and Dry” album, Peterborough, Ontario’s ‘Mistress of the Fiddle,’ Melissa Payne, will be performing at the Albert and Crown Pub in Alberton this Saturday, May 17, at 8 p.m.

Her sophomore album, “High and Dry,” is described as Payne’s most personal and ambitious music to date and a bit of a departure from her previous work.
In a preview interview, Payne said, “From the start I knew I wanted to get away from the country realm a little bit. I’ve always been referred to as country, but when I’m sitting down to write, I don’t really write country songs.”
The new album has an easy-going, ‘70s inspired sound.
Island musician Katie McGarry will also be performing at the pub on Saturday night.
