Sobeys LIVE @ the Centre presents the Prince Edward Island Celtic/Acadian trio Vishtèn on May 9 at 7:30 p.m. at The Mack.
After a busy winter season touring in Europe, this Friday’s concert is a bit of a homecoming for the traditional Celtic and Acadian trio, before the festival-heavy summer of 2014. It was at the intimate Mack theatre that the trio recorded their 2008 ECMA-winning album, “Vishtèn LIVE.”
Over the past decade, Vishtèn has won numerous awards and delivered thousands of performances in over 10 countries.
Hailing from P.E.I. and Îles de la Madeleine, the members of this driving percussive trio are powerful francophone singers and top-flight multi-instrumentalists. On their new album “Mōsaïk,” fiddler Pascal Miousse and twin sisters Emmanuelle and Pastelle LeBlanc fuse Acadian and traditional genres with a modern sensibility of rock and indie-folk influences.
Tickets for Vishtèn and Royal Wood are available at the Confederation Centre box office at (902) 566-1267, or toll-free at 1-800-565-0278, or order online at liveatthecentre.com.
