SUMMERSIDE - Juno-nominated blues powerhouse Treasa Levasseur has been added to the spring performance schedule at Harbourfront Theatre, appearing Thursday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m.

Treasa Levasseur

Blending old school R&B grooves with a songwriting ethic that comes from years of playing, Levasseur's smart and soulful brand of music has made her a hot name in the folk, roots, blues and jazz scenes. To follow up her 2008 critically acclaimed and Juno-nominated album "Low Fidelity," Levasseur gathered some of Canada's best players to record "Broad." The album continues to be listed on folk and blues charts alike.

Levasseur remains one of the most versatile of artists. She's been compared to Laura Nyro, Bonnie Raitt, Carole King and Marcia Ball. Past festivals include Toronto Jazz, Calgary Blues, Mariposa Folk & Wreckhouse Jazz & Blues.

Her concert in Summerside starts off her Atlantic tour being organized by the Atlantic Presenters Association as part of its 2014 performing arts programming. Levasseur showcased at APA's flagship event, Contact East, in 2012 which has resulted in this tour.

APA's mission is to enable its members to enhance, promote, and facilitate diverse, quality live performances to communities in Atlantic Canada. This is, in large part, achieved through Contact East, which brings the best artists in the country to perform for APA members as well as other national and international delegates.

"APA is thrilled to facilitate this tour through eight Atlantic Canadian communities to ensure that high calibre artists like Treasa are brought to communities big and small throughout our region. It is very rewarding to work with our members, presenters from across the region, on tours like this to help them bring unique and amazing performances to every corner of Atlantic Canada." says Laurie Gillis, APA executive director

"Touring the East Coast has long been a dream of mine, and my showcase at Contact East was just the introduction needed to make it happen," says Levasseur. "The thought of spending the early springtime travelling through the Maritimes enjoying the region's spectacular scenery and amazing hospitality has kept me going all winter."
