SUMMERSIDE ‚Äď Elvis is coming to Summerside, and he‚Äôs all shook up.
Pete Paquette, an Elvis tribute artist, is bringing his show to Summerside, on Saturday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m., at the Harbourfront Theatre.
‚ÄúElvis - The Moments‚ÄĚ takes you through the musical career of one of the most celebrated entertainers, Elvis Presley.
‚ÄúOur show is all about the energy,‚ÄĚ said Paquette. ‚ÄúWe have included all of the eras, the ‚Äė50s, ‚Äė60s and the ‚Äė70‚Äôs. All of it‚Äôs there, not just the jumpsuits.‚ÄĚ
Paquette’s show features a live band, Rudy and the Angels Showband from Toronto.
This production features all of the hits, and some surprises, he added. It includes some of the most memorable moments of the King’s live performances, from his early years of rock'n roll in the 1950s to his explosive energy as he returned to perform live on stage in Las Vegas during the 1970s.
Paquette began performing in his teens. He admits he was hooked on Elvis movies, and started competing as an Elvis impersonator and winning numerous awards for his performances.
About three years ago Paquette decided to start his own production company and take his Elvis show on the road. After years of competing, he finally felt like he had won when he was able to put own production together.
‚ÄúI won impersonator competitions in Toronto and at the Collingwood Festival. In the Las Vegas Festival, I won the Best Elvis Performer Award, and many more,‚ÄĚ he noted.
Paquette depicts the younger Elvis in his prime.
The 28-year-old is a French teacher in Toronto by day and he said his day job allows him a flexible schedule for performing.
His stop in Summerside is part of his current tour of the Maritimes, and Paquette hopes to go to take his show to Alberta and Quebec next.
He said the audience members on this tour have been appreciative and have offered positive feedback.
‚ÄúThey say it‚Äôs entertaining and a youthful performance. They are surprised when they hear I‚Äôm only 28 years old,‚ÄĚ added Paquette.
Tickets for the April 26 show are available at the Harbourfront Theatre box office.
