Three Island public libraries will be celebrating poetry month, which is April.
Charlottetown, Summerside, and Tyne Valley libraries all have planned events for poetry lovers that will be hosted by poet laureate, Dianne Hicks Marrow.

This month marks the 16th annual National Poetry Month.

P.E.I.’s Minister of Tourism and Culture Robert Henderson said, “National poetry month gives people an excellent opportunity to become familiar with Island poets like Milton Acorn, John MacKenzie, Brent MacLaine, and our own poet laureate, Dianne Hicks Morrow, and to gain an appreciation for the vital role they play in our province’s culture.”

Summerside Rotary Library will host an open-mike event Saturday, April 12, at 1 p.m. The Charlottetown Confederation Centre Public Library will host a poetry workshop Thursday, April 17, at 6:45 p.m., and Tyne Valley Public Library will host another open-mike event Thursday, April 24, at 7 p.m.
