Calling for volunteers for inaugural Soup'Art soiree at The Mack
CHARLOTTETOWN – As a special part of the 2014 Rendez-vous de la Francophonie, the Société Saint-Thomas-d'Aquin and Confederation Centre are welcoming the public for a delectable new art event on Thursday, March 20. To mark International Francophonie Day, the inaugural Soup'Art will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Mack, fusing culinary with the visual arts for one exquisite evening.

The audience will be able to enjoy a bevy of soups prepared by cooks from many different local cultures and traditions living on P.E.I. This experience will be enhanced by a rich exhibition of visual art from several notable Island artists, including Faysal Boukari, Noëlla Richard and Alma MacDougall, who will be present to talk with the public about their work and the importance of art in their lives.
Door prizes will also be drawn throughout the evening.
"This is an exciting project and we are pleased to once more work in co-operation with the Société Saint-Thomas-d'Aquin on this project which will bring the visual arts community together with the general public," says Monique Lafontaine, French programming co-ordinator at Confederation Centre of the Arts. "When Fatiha (Enniri) suggested we work together on this project, we thought it was a great idea and there is no better location than The Mack to hold such an event. Soup will warm your body and the arts will warm your soul."
Organizers are looking for volunteers to prepare soups of all types for this light-hearted new event. Trained chefs, hobby cooks, and volunteers of all backgrounds are equally welcome to serve up their finest up at this mid-winter gathering. For more information, or to sign up to participate, contact Fatiha Enniri at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than March 14.
This event is free and all are welcome.
