‚ÄúAdventures in reading‚ÄĚ column
By Mallory McKinney
The Summerside Rotary Library has been a busy spot so far this winter. As a safe haven from the harsh weather, we welcome you to take shelter with us and make use of our space and various resources. The library is happy to announce that we will be adding a chess club and origami club on Saturday afternoons at 1 p.m. beginning in March. If you have any interest at all we would love to have you here to take part.
As always, the library is happy to receive your donations of books and other materials. We currently accept DVDs, music CDs, and audiobooks alongside books. We are in the market for books that are in excellent condition and published within the last two years, but we also accept classics. We appreciate donations of local titles to help flesh out our P.E.I. collection.
In order to remain current and practical we cannot accept items that are in poor condition (yellowed, worn, dusty, damp, water damaged, moldy, torn, etc). For the sake of remaining accurate we cannot accept out-of-date material such as old science, medicine, and technology books. We also do not accept encyclopedias, textbooks and Reader’s Digest Condensed books. In regard to serialized materials, we cannot take specialized journals or old magazines. While we are happy to take current DVDs, we unfortunately do not have the space to accommodate VHS, cassette tapes, and CD ROMs.
Due to the high volume of donations we ask that you drop off your items during a time when we are open so that we can ensure they are fit for the collection.
We have received some excellent materials so far this year and encourage you to continue donating your gently used, relevant resources.
