CHARLOTTETOWN – Dr. Maureen Shea, a registered psychologist and clinical social worker, will offer a three-hour session of caring and healing for caregivers on Thursday, Jan. 24, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Martha Spirituality Centre at St. Dunstan’s University Place on Great George Street in Charlottetown.

Dr. Maureen Shea

Shea sees caregivers as those valued persons caring for family members with chronic or terminal illnesses.

She has experienced both sides of the caregiver/patient relationship, and has extensive professional experience in dealing with persons with chronic illness.

She hopes the session might be “a time for restoration and strengthening for those who are so important in the caring of their loved ones.”

This half day will include input, scripture, sharing, recommendations for coping, prayer and music. Participants are advised to use the entrance at the back of the building.

Shea resides in New York City with her husband Joe and they spend about 10 days a month in their home in Victoria, P.E.I.

Cost for the caring and healing for caregivers session is $20, payable at the door, and a morning refreshment break will be provided.

To register call 367-3103 or email srgemma@eastlink.ca on or before Jan. 20.

Storm date for the session is Jan. 25.
