Confederation Centre presents “Sing Along Messiah,” featuring the Confederation Singers, pictured here in performance at the Homburg Theatre. The concert takes place Saturday, Dec. 28, at the Kirk of St. James Church, 35 Fitzroy St., Charlottetown.
Presented by Sobeys LIVE @ the Centre each year at the beautiful Kirk of St. James in Charlottetown, the Confederation Singers join with the audience to sing excerpts from Handel’s celebrated choral work.
“The Kirk of St. James, with its soaring ceilings and gracious architecture, provides a dramatic setting for this classic music,” says Donald Fraser, musical director.
“’Sing Along Messiah’ offers a unique opportunity to sing the most famous seasonal music in a relaxed but beautiful setting.”
“Messiah” is the creation of German composer George Frederic Handel, and is among the most popular works in the Western choral tradition.
“The community is encouraged to join together with the Confederation Singers in singing the choruses,” adds Fraser. “It is a perfect way to celebrate the season.”
The fourth wall comes down at 3 p.m. this Saturday. Admission is by donation in support of the Youth Chorus’s tour to New York City in 2014.
