Event organizers thought that early bird passes would “make a great holiday gift for the curling fan in your life.”
Event chairperson, JP Desrosiers, said, “Early Bird tickets were very popular back in 2012 when the City of Summerside last hosted the event. The uptake exceeded our expectations back then, so we wanted to keep the pricing in line with 2012.
“In 2012 fans were treated to an intimate and interactive experience with the world’s best curlers. Throw into the mix that the 2014 Olympic Champions will most likely be in attendance this time and the value just increases,” continues Desrosiers.
The 2014 Grand Slam of Curling Player’s Championship will run from April 15 until April 20 in Summerside’s Eastlink Arena at Credit Union Place. The 15 highest ranked men’s and 15 highest ranked women’s curling teams from around the world will converge on Summerside for five days of curling action. The series is becoming known as one of the toughest of curling tournaments to win, and with thousands of dollars on the line, the action is sure to be exciting.
“The 2012 Championships were a great all around experience for us,” said Stewart. “The event generated about $1.8 million of economic activity for our city, which was a great boost for our business community. It is certainly an honour to bring back world class curling to Summerside again in 2014. The Grand Slam of Curling Players Championships is one of curling’s most sought after events. Our great facility, volunteers, sponsors and fans are all going to be vital to us hosting the event again in 2014.”
