CHARLOTTETOWN — A Summerside writer is among the winners in this year’s Intergeneration Week storytelling, poetry and song contest.
Reginald MacLellan’s poem, “The Stream,” took third place in the poetry component of the contest, and his poem, “Handsome Young Son,” received honourable mention.
A panel, including representatives from the Seniors’ Secretariat, reviewed the entries and selected first, second and third-prize entries. This year’s award winners range in age from 11 to 84 years.
The other winners are:
— First-prize story: “The Lord of the Dance” by Miriam MacLean, Cornwall;
— Second-prize story: “An Evening Stroll” by Chloe Dockendorff, Morell;
— Third-prize: “The Magic Bike” by Dorothy Hicks, Charlottetown;
— Honourable mention: “Betrayal” by Dianne Hicks Morrow, York;
— First-prize poem: “Who Are We” by Sibyl Cutcliffe, Charlottetown; and
— Second-prize poem: “Crank Trickle-Trickle” by Chloe Dockendorff;
Winning entries from the contest were announced during an Intergeneration Week Ceidh in the City Wednesday evening in Charlottetown.
