ABRAM-VILLAGE – Plans are well underway for the fourth annual Evangeline Country Music Festival to be held on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12 and 13. For the first time, a country music choral group will be performing at the festival.

The choral group, Les Voix du Havre, from Magdalen Islands will present their country music show, Le Country d’hier à aujourd’hui (Country music from yesterday and today), at the fourth annual Evangeline Country Music Festival on Oct. 13 at 12 p.m.
This choral group of 25 to 30 members, donning cowboy outfits with hats and boots, will be performing on stage at the Evangeline Country Music Festival on Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Expo-Festival Centre in Abram-Village from 12 to 2 p.m.
The group, known as “Les Voix du Havre”, from Magdalen Islands, will present a repertoire of both English and French country songs during their two-hour show which will showcase country music from yesterday and today.
The festival begins on Saturday, Oct. 12, with a country music show “The Legends of Country Music” featuring 25 country music musicians from the area who will personify some of the great legends of country music, such as Anne Murray, Merle Haggard, Ian and Sylvia Tyson, Dolly Parton, George Jones, Cayouche, Rita MacNeil, Cheryl Crow, The Judds, Alan Jackson, Leann Rimes, George Burns and Bobbie Nelson. Background music will be provided by the local group of Peter, Shane and Jason Arsenault along with Pierre Poirier.
Many performers are new to the country music festival stage.
Line-dancing and farm animal sound contests promise to bring lots of fun. There will be a 50/50 draw as well as two draws for tickets to the Reba McEntyre show in Summerside on Oct. 19. Prizes will be given for the best cowboy and cowgirl outfits. This event is reserved for those 19 years and over.
On Sunday, the festival will continue with a Cowboy Brunch and Music Show at the Expo Centre. A great selection of food will be on the menu including the traditional Thanksgiving weekend roast turkey with trimmings. The brunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the music show by Les Voix du Havre beginning from 12 noon.
Admission to the brunch is $12.95 and includes the Country Music Show. For those who wish to attend the music show only, admission is $10.
