Confederation Centre Art Galley hosting event Thursday
CHARLOTTETOWN – “Fragmentum Opus” from Canadian painter Philip Delisle, part of the RBC Emerging Artist Series, will conclude its showing at the Confederation Centre Art Gallery on Sept. 22. “Fragmentum Opus” is a series of new works from Delisle and is based on his travels and study across Europe after winning the 2012 Plaskett Award.

This research gave the Newmarket, Ont., native a chance to explore some of the greatest painting collections in the world, and he responded with a series of acrylic works focusing on that experience.
To further explore the works of Delisle, the Confederation Centre Art Galley will be hosting an ArtTalk featuring Delisle on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. This event is free of charge and open to the public.
Delisle's work examines the process of painting. With “Fragmentum Opus,” this exploration focuses on how paintings are displayed, viewed, and exchanged. As the recipient of the Plaskett Award, Delisle visited many of the continent’s major collections of art, ranging from the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna to the Louvre in Paris.
The paintings that resulted from these travels focus on the spaces, the framing, the shades and tones of background walls, and the fellow tourists experiencing the works alongside Delisle.
