Editor,
Whether or not you agree with wind farms is not the argument surrounding the opening ceremonies of the West Cape Wind farm.
The main reason to be up in arms about this circus is that it tears open some very deep wounds that were just beginning to heal.

Editor,
Whether or not you agree with wind farms is not the argument surrounding the opening ceremonies of the West Cape Wind farm.
The main reason to be up in arms about this circus is that it tears open some very deep wounds that were just beginning to heal.
The wind farm is here and it's not going anywhere. Those landowners that were never notified of the plan will never be given a voice. The turbines do make noise, they do generate flicker and they represent the biggest change to lifestyles that ever came to the west end of P.E.I.
The grand opening is totally unnecessary. There is nothing to be gained by Mr. Smarti, Mr. Cavicchi and Ms Vitek hosting a big party to remind local residents that were marginalized in the process they have no power to stop Bay St. whenever they come knocking.
Once again they show little compassion to what it means to shove change at people in the name of money. I highly doubt Bay St. cares what the average person on P.E.I. pays for their hydro, but I can imagine the powerful seduction of revenue generated by the trading of green credits.
I doubt even the landowners are excited about this party. After all, they live here and need this to settle down as well.
The point is, people, real people, have been hurt and may never recover. Families have been divided and may never heal.
This may all be necessary in the evolution of the world but it is pointless to come to this community and remind vulnerable people they have no voice.
Let sleeping dogs lie and let the healing take place.
Of course I may only be a summer resident and therefore no right to a say but I do have a long history in the area that is forever changed.
I only hope in 200 years, long after we are all gone, that the Earth will be better for the strife that was caused.
