Pedestrian struck at TransCanada in Cornwall

CORNWALL -- A woman was struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection of Route 19 and the TransCanada Highway this afternoon. The pedestrian was treated at the scene and transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the motor vehicle was charged with failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The accident happened at about 1:40 p.m. and Queens District RCMP, Island EMS and the Cornwall Fire Department responded.
