Canada West leads 3-2 after one period

SUMMERSIDE -- Canada West has taken a 3-2 advantage against Belarus into the first intermission of Thursday night's quarter-final game at the 2009 World Junior 'A' Hockey Challenge.

Connor Jones (2) and Cam Reid, a seventh-round draft pick of the Nashville Predators, scored for Canada West. Raman Malinouski and Aliaksandr Famin replied for Belarus.

Canada West held a 10-9 shots-on-goal advantage.

Goaltenders are Sean Bonar for Canada West and Stanislau Artynski for Belarus.

Each team was 0-for-1 on the power play and Canada West will enjoy a man advantage for the first 59 seconds of the second period.
