CHARLOTTETOWN - She's not the typical "Girl Next Door" you're likely to meet.
But Canadian actress Elisha Cuthbert doesn't seem to be getting much more attention than any other Island girl during her stay here on P.E.I.
The one-time "24" star, visiting with her boyfriend, Calgary Flames defenceman Dion Phaneuf, said she's enjoying the quaint atmosphere of the Island.
"This is the first time I've visited Prince Edward Island, mostly because of Dion because he spends his summers here," said Cuthbert. "For us together, it's such a quiet place that we can be ourselves and not get bothered too much and have a real summer away from the hustle and bustle of our lives."
The petite 25-year-old was born in Calgary, but spends most of her time living and working in California when she and Phaneuf aren't travelling the continent.
The couple attended a Special Olympics celebrity function at the Delta Prince Edward in Charlottetown on Wednesday.
But Cuthbert said the pair have been spending much of their time on the water, playing a round of golf at Red Sands in Clinton, or spending time with some of Phaneuf's family on the Island.
"You've got everything here. You have water, you have golf, you have fishing, you have great food. It's just a beautiful place," she said. "It's great for me to come here with Dion and just have some down time. It's a really comfortable way to live."
And Islanders have given her the typical level of respect they afford visiting celebrities, though she said Phaneuf often draws more fan attention in Canada.
"Dion gets noticed no matter where we are, but that's never the issue. It's more just to get away from the craziness of living in a state with 30 million people, so it's nice to come here and just be quiet."
Cuthbert's film credits have included "The Girl Next Door," "House of Wax," and last year's "Captivity." She has two movies due out later this year, the romantic comedy "My Sassy Girl" and the quirky comedy "The Six Wives of Henry Lafay" with Tim Allen.
But fans of "24" may be disappointed if they're hoping to see her back alongside Kiefer Sutherland next season, playing Jack Bauer's daughter, Kim.
"As of right now I'm not scheduled to be on the show. It always changes, we're always talking and they'll always be family. It's an amazing experience."
